Mine Design Computer Facilities Open Pit Design by Jian Jia

The Michigan Tech Mining Engineering program has several computer software packages for mine design available for students. Various programs allow geological modeling, mine planning, financial analysis, mine evaluation, ore reserve calculation, and grade control. The computer-assisted mine design illustration at left shows the final plan for an open pit mine based on the dimensions of the ore body as determined from drill hole data.
