Michigan Tech mining engineering and mineral processing Hardrock Huskies teams have won many awards in International Intercollegiate Mining Competition over the years. The contest activities include jackleg drilling, surveying, track standing, panning for gold, hand steeling, mucking, and swede sawing. Photos of International Collegiate Mining Competition at University of Nevada, Reno, Mackey School of Mines at Reno, Nevada, April 1999. "It was a cold and snowy . . . " actually, the contest had to be postponed due to a blizzard. In the afternoon, the weather improved and the contest was continued.
